To achieve optimal performance and driving feel across circuit driving and public road conditions, the A’PEXi N1 Evolution Damper represents the ultimate expression of A’PEXi suspension engineering. Every single component has been designed without compromise to deliver ideal characteristics for varying driving styles and stages.

Built upon decades of experience and proven results, each application undergoes repeated vehicle-specific installation and testing, ensuring precise setup and consistent performance across all supported models. The N1 Evolution Damper is the result of continuous evolution, driven by real-world data and relentless refinement.

● φ46 Linear Piston

The N1 Evolution Damper features a completely redesigned φ46 resin-bonded piston, developed exclusively for this system. Considering real-world street conditions such as rutted pavement and consecutive road gaps, A’PEXi adopted a linear port design that maintains linear damping characteristics up to approximately 1.5 m/s piston speed.

By allowing the suspension to move proactively, the system achieves both sporty, precise control and a supple ride quality without harsh impact. The piston ring uses a specially formulated resin material, significantly reducing friction while extending service life and suppressing abnormal noise, greatly improving overall quietness and refinement.

● Pillow Ball Upper Mount

All N1 Evolution Damper models are equipped as standard with high-rigidity pillow ball upper mounts. A thick, CNC-machined duralumin upper plate combined with a high-precision NMB pillow ball joint ensures smooth, stress-free operation while accurately responding to even minimal suspension movement.

To further enhance ride comfort, the system incorporates revised bump rubber shapes and extended damper stroke on the cylinder side, achieving an exceptional balance between direct handling response and ride compliance.

For MacPherson strut (inverted) applications, a camber-adjustable pillow ball upper mount is included as standard equipment.

● High-Quality Materials

Performance and reliability take absolute priority in the N1 Evolution Damper. With uncompromising attention to detail, A’PEXi selects the best possible materials and manufacturing methods, regardless of cost.

The damper body utilizes a high-strength steel monotube construction, offering outstanding rigidity and durability. Rather than decorative finishes, the surface is treated with zinc plating, reducing galvanic corrosion and ensuring long-term resistance to harsh environments.

The N1 Damper Series was also among the first in the market to adopt full-length height adjustment, a feature now widely considered standard.

● Damper Fluid

Developed exclusively for this system, the N1 NEW Damper Fluid is truly the lifeblood of the N1 Evolution Damper. Designed to resist heat fade, improve break-in characteristics, and maintain stability over extended use, it delivers consistent damping performance even under extreme conditions.

Proven through A’PEXi’s extensive experience in GT racing, this high-performance fluid is an essential element of the N1 Evolution Damper’s core performance and without it, the true nature of the system cannot be fully realized.

About this coilover kit for the Toyota 86

If you want more control over stance and handling than lowering springs give you on a Toyota 86, a coilover kit like this APEXi set is the usual next step.

Fitment notes

  • Listed for: Toyota 86.
  • Factory adaptive dampers: if your car has electronic or adaptive suspension, check whether the listing covers it or needs a cancellation kit.
  • Specs, lead time and warranty come from APEXi and can change. The details above this guide are the latest we have.

Not sure it fits? Message us your car's details and we'll double-check fitment with the supplier before you buy.

What else to plan for

  • An alignment. Any change in ride height changes camber and toe. Set your final height first, then align.
  • Camber and toe adjustment. Bigger drops often need adjustable arms or camber plates to align properly. See alignment and camber kits.
  • Wheel and tire clearance. Check clearance at full lock and full compression, especially with wider wheels. Our ride height and wheel fitment calculator shows how much drop and offset change you are planning.
  • The right spring rate. Compare the rates listed here with what our spring rate calculator suggests for your car's weight and use.

Questions about Toyota 86 coilovers

Will this fit my Toyota 86?
It is listed for the Toyota 86. Check your year, model, drivetrain and chassis code against the product title. If anything is different, contact us and we will confirm fitment with the supplier before you order.
Do I need an alignment after installing coilovers?
Yes. Changing ride height changes camber and toe. Set your final height, let the suspension settle, then get the car aligned.
How low can I go?
It depends on the adjustment range the brand lists, your wheels and tires, and how you use the car. Most cars that are driven hard work best with a modest drop that leaves enough suspension travel.
Where do specs and warranty details come from?
From APEXi. We sell parts from several brands and suppliers, and each one sets its own specs, lead times and warranty terms. The product details above are the latest we have.
